� �4y <br /> MINUTES <br /> ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> MARCH 18, 1980 <br /> The Orange County Board of Commissioners met in regular session <br /> on Tuesday, March 18th, at 7:30 p.m., in the Superior Court Room, <br /> of the Orange County Courthouse, in Hillsborough, North Carolina. <br /> Commissioners present: Commissioner Richard Whitted, Chairman, <br /> and Commissioners Norman Walker, Anne Barnes,. Norman Gustaveson and <br /> Don Willhoit. <br /> The Chairman called to order a public hearing to consider <br /> the naming of certain public roads in Orange County. The Chairman <br /> introduced Mr. David Shanklin, Vice Chairman of the Road Naming <br /> ,Advisory Committee. <br /> Mr. Shanklin gave a progress report of the activities of the <br /> Road Naming Advisory Committee. He requested the Board give consideration <br /> to the future activities of the Road Naming Advisory Committee. He also <br /> requested certain roads which had been to public hearing in January <br /> be approved so that the Committee could begin posting road signs. <br /> Mr. Shanklin then opened the floor to comment concerning proposed <br /> road names in Caldwell Fire District. <br /> Mr. Steve Barry objected to the word "Cemetery" in the proposed <br /> name for road # 1528. He requested the road be named Sawyer Road. <br /> Mr. Shanklin suggested Sawyer might be a duplicate road name within <br /> the County. <br /> Mr. Shanklin invited the public to attend a meeting of the <br /> Road Naming Advisory Committee to be held April 1st in the <br /> Orange County Courthouse in Hillsborough. <br /> Mr. Shanklin called for comments on proposed road names in <br /> Cedar Grove Fire District. <br /> Messrs. Oscar and Birch Compton submitted a petition in opposition <br /> to proposed names for roads # 1577 and # 1504 and requested these <br /> E <br /> roads be named Compton Road. <br /> Mr. Clayburn Roberts requested the proposed name for road # 1367 <br /> F. <br /> be changed from Walter Edwards Road to Murray Corbett Road. <br /> x: <br /> 6 <br /> t. <br /> n <br />
