The Tax Supervisor explained James J. Freeland had requested a <br /> tax refund for the past 5 years for an easement conveyed by the State <br /> Highway Department (Tax Map 2, Block D, Parcel 1, Tract 2541). <br /> Commissioner Willhoit moved, seconded by Commissioner Barnes, to <br /> deny the refund request of James J. Freeland and that the Tax Supervisor <br /> notify Mr. Freeland of the appropriate channels for obtaining relief. <br /> Vote: ayes, 5; noes, 0. <br /> Commissioner Willhoit moved, seconded by Commissioner Barnes, to <br /> table the request of Mr. and Mrs. Walter H. Jones for tax refund <br /> until further information is received. Vote: ayes, 5; noes, 0. <br /> The Tax Supervisor explained Mr. Walter Enoch,who is totally disabled, <br /> had failed to make a timely application for Homestead Exemption for 1979 <br /> and that there are no statutory provisions for granting such an exemption. <br /> Commissioner Barnes moved, seconded by Commissioner Whitted, that <br /> the request of Walter Enoch for Homestead Exemption, which came past the <br /> legal deadline, be denied for legal reasons. Vote: ayes, 5; noes, 0. <br /> The Board requested the Tax Supervisor's office make every effort to <br /> notify persons eligible for Homestead Exemptions and to have the <br /> Homestead Exemption reflected on the face of the tax listing abstract. <br /> Agenda Item 5: Bid Results <br /> The Purchasing Director submitted a report of bids received for <br /> tires, wheels and tubes for County vehicles. For copy of these results, <br /> see page 216 of this book. <br /> Commissioner Willhoit moved, seconded by Commissioner Barnes, <br /> to table this item until the next meeting to give the Purchasing Director <br /> an opportunity to check the prices of these items through State contract. <br /> Vote: ayes, 5; noes, 0. <br /> Agenda Item 11 A & B: Ap ointments to County Planning Board <br /> Commissioner Barnes nominated Ms. Alice Gordon of Chapel Hill Township <br /> to serve on the County Planning Board. Commissioner Gustaveson nominated <br /> Ms. Hazel Lunsford and Ms. Pat Crawford for reappointment to the County <br /> Planning Board. There being no further nominations, Commissioner Gustaveson <br /> moved, seconded by Commissioner Willhoit to appoint Ms. Lunsford, Ms. Crawford <br /> and Ms. Gordon to three year terms on the Orange County Planning Board. <br /> Vote: ayes, 5; noes, 0. <br />
