Mr. Forrest offered Mr. McAdoo a petition to file and suggested Mr. McAdoo <br /> select an alternate name for road # 1378. He said the Committee would make <br /> a decision as to which road would be named Oak Street. <br /> Ms. Lynn Rice said road # 1117 has been posted as Mt. Willing Road instead <br /> of Oak Grove Road. <br /> Mr. Gene Mincey requested road # 1552 (Minty Road) be spelled Mincey Road. <br /> Mr. John Forrest said road # 1144 should be spelled Ben Johnston Road <br /> instead of Ben Johnson Road. <br /> Ms. Lynn Rice asked whether an alternative to the Committee's recommendations <br /> would be to split the name of a road. <br /> Mr. William McAdoo requested road # 1313 be named an original family name <br /> rather than Merimack. Mr. Dave Shanklin suggested Mr. McAdoo check road names <br /> existing in the county with the Orange County Planning Department since road <br /> names cannot be duplicated. <br /> Commissioner Barnes asked for clarification of road numbers with more <br /> than one name. <br /> Commissioner Willhoit questioned whether road # 1986 is named Brandywine <br /> Road or Drive. The Road Naming Coordinator said that Brandywine Road is correct. <br /> There being no further comment, Commissioner Whitted declared the public <br /> hearing adjourned. <br /> The Chairman asked all members of the Road Naming Advisory Committee to <br /> stand and be recognized. <br /> The Orange County Board of Commissioners convened its regular meeting <br /> in the Commissioner's Room of the Orange County Courthouse after the conclusion <br /> of the public hearing. <br /> The following items were added to the agenda: <br /> Agenda Item 16: Joint Meeting with Commission for Women <br /> Agenda Item 3: Minutes <br /> Commissioner Willhoit moved, seconded by Commissioner Barnes, to approve <br /> the minutes of the January 7, 1980 meeting, as corrected. Vote: ayes, 5; noes, 0. <br /> Agenda Item 5: New Generation Program <br /> The Chairman submitted to the Board information concerning a bill <br /> to provide more effective services to children and families through <br /> state and county new generation interagency committees.
