Commissioner Gustaveson moved, seconded by Commissioner Whitted, <br /> to approve the Manager's recommendation to accept the low bid of <br /> Central Telephone Company for County telephone equipment. <br /> Vote: ayes, 4; noes, 0. <br /> Agenda Item 14: Appointments <br /> The Chairman announced that Jessie J. Richter had resigned from the <br /> Commission for Women. <br /> The Chairman announced there are two regular and one alternate positions <br /> vacant on the Hillsborough Board of Adjustment and three vacancies on the <br /> Hillsborough Planning Board. The Board requested the Clerk advertise <br /> these positions with. the stipulation that persons must live within the <br /> extraterritorial area of Hillsborough. <br /> Commissioner Gustaveson moved, seconded by Commissioner Barnes, <br /> to confirm UNC's appointment of Dr. Carl Henley, Carrboro's appointment <br /> of Mr. Steve .Rose, Chapel Hill-Carrboro School Board's appointment of <br /> Ms. Edith Elliott and the Board of Social Services' appointment of <br /> Mr. Sam English to one year terms on the Orange JOCCA Board. <br /> Vote: ayes, 4; noes, 0. <br /> The Chairman announced that the terms of Ms. Hazel Lunsford, <br /> Dr. Robert Bonar, Ms. Pat Crawford and Mr. Andrew Dobelstein on the <br /> County Planning Board would expire February 7, 1980. The Chairman <br /> also announced Mr. Hillard Caldwell was no longer eligible to serve <br /> on the County Planning Board since his residence had been annexed into <br /> the Town of Carrboro. <br /> Commissioner Gustaveson moved, seconded by Commissioner Whitted, <br /> to appoint Mr. John Blackwood as Carrboro's representative on the <br /> Cable TV Citizens Advisory Committee. Vote: ayes, 4; noes, 0. <br /> The Board requested the Clerk advertise for citizen representatives <br /> to the Cable TV Citizens Advisory Committee whose residences lie <br /> within the area to be served by the County cable TV system. <br /> The Chairman announced Ms. Doris Foushee, Carrboro's representative <br /> on the County Parks and Recreation Advisory Council, had resigned. <br /> The Chairman requested the Clerk contact Carrboro and request they <br /> submit the name of their representative to replace Ms. Foushee. <br /> t -4- <br />
