~-,... <br />-, ._ ~_:. <br />MINUTES <br />ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />NOVEMBER 5, 1979 <br />The Orange County Board of Corronissioners met in regular session <br />on Monday, November 5, 1979, at 10:00 a.m., in the Commissioners Roam, <br />' Orange County Courthouse, in Hillsborough, North Carolina. <br />Commissioners present: Commissioner Richard Whitted, Chairman, and <br />Commissioners Norman Walker, Norman Gustaveson, Don Willhoit and. Anne Barnes. <br />Members of the Board added the following items to the agenda: <br />Agenda Item 18: Items Relating to the Bond Issue <br />Agenda Item 19: Cancellation of'November 26th Meeting <br />Agenda Item 20: Recommendations of MSAC re Certain Organizations <br />Agenda Item 3: Minutes <br />Commissioner Willhoit moved, seconded by Commissioner Barnes, to <br />approve the minutes of October 16, 1979 as amended. Commissioner 4lillhoit <br />withdrew his motion so that the Clerk could go back to the tape of the <br />meeting and include in the minutes some of Commissioner Willhoit's verbatum <br />comments regarding the Community School for People Under Sir.. Commissioner <br />Barnes withdrew her second. <br />Commissioner Willhoit moved, seconded by Commissioner Gustavesan, to <br />approve the minutes of October 22, 1979, as corrected. Vote: ayes, 5; <br />noes, 0. <br />Agenda Item 4: Resolution far Support of Small Farmers <br />Commissioner Willhoit moved, seconded by Commissioner Barnes, that <br />the Board go on record in support of NACo's platform on the preservation <br />of agricultural land and that a copy of this statement be sent to the <br />Cherokee County Manager and Secretary of Agriculture, Bob Bergland. <br />Discussion ensued. Commissioner Willhoit withdrew his motion. <br />Commissioner Barnes moved, seconded by Commissioner Willhoit, to <br />approve the Resolution for Support of the Small Farmers with the addition <br />of a statement to reaffirm this Board's support of NACo's policy on <br />preservation of agricultural land, which addresses some broader issues, <br />and to express to our delegation in Washington this Board's support of <br />House Bill 2551, Agricultural Land Protection Act, and Senate Bill 795, <br />Farmland Protection Act.
