f ~ <br />... <br />MINUTES <br />,:: pRANGE COUPJTY BOARD OF COMMISSIOPIERS <br />SEPTEMBER 24, 1979 <br />The Orange Gounty Board of Commissioners met irr regular session <br />on Monday, September 24, 1979, at 7:30 p.m., in the Board Room of the <br />- ~Carrboro Town Hall, Carrboro, North Carolina. <br />' Commissioners present: Commissioner Richard Whitted, Chairman, <br />y <br />q and Commissioners Anne Barnes, Don Willhoit, Norman Walker and Narman <br />{ <br />'t Gustaveson. <br />:~ No Board member or person in the audience desired to add additional <br />3 <br />items to the agenda. <br />" Agenda Item 3: Re ort from CETA Director <br />~~ Mr. Stewart Rogers told the Board he had checked at the state <br />' and national level to try to find out how long the freeze on CETA pasitions <br />would continue, but he had been unable to ascertain this information. <br />'`: <br />~ t+lr. Rogers reported the state did intend to freeze all pasitions, including <br />~~ the currently approved vacant positions. Mr. Rogers submitted to the <br />a <br />Board a listing of the eleven positions which will 6e terminated on <br />~. <br />September 30th. He stated at least three of these persons would be <br />j <br />employed by their agencies and that CETA was working with the others and <br />.; <br />referring them to non-CETA jabs. For copy of the listing of positions which <br />will be terminated September 30, 1979, see page 40 of this book. <br />Ms. Debbie Lee, Chair of Commission for Women, wished to go <br />1 <br />on record saying the Commission understood when the CETA freeze was <br />lifted there would be a good chance of refilling the coordinator's position. <br />She also wished to go on record saying the Commission feels the work the <br />1. <br />.~ coordinator is doing in the community is so important that it should be <br />continued and funded permanently through the County Commissioners. <br />x <br />It was the consensus of the Board to give the coordinator position <br />for the Commission for Women a high priority when the CETA freeze is <br />~ lifted. <br />e <br />a <br />J <br />i <br />
