7~~ s - ~°o8-d1 q~ <br />~-~"aO°~ <br />~ ~a <br />fi~ e .~`~-'''- ~-c~ <br />ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />RESOLUTION TO <br />NAME THE NEW CENTRAL ORANGE SENIOR CENTER <br />FOR MARIAH ANN MCPHERSON <br />WHEREAS, Mariah Ann McPherson was a role model for human rights and <br />civic involvement for over 50 years in Orange County with memberships on <br />the Orange County Commission for Women, the ACLU and the Democratic Party <br />to name a few, and receiving the highest County human relations award, The Pauli <br />Murray Award; and <br />WHEREAS, Mariah Ann McPherson was an outspoken advocate for the needs <br />and rights of all the elderly, especially low income and those from different ethnic <br />backgrounds, giving countless hours of community service to improve the quality <br />of life for all Orange County's older residents; and <br />WHEREAS, Mariah Ann McPherson made numerous contributions on behalf <br />of older Orange County residents over the last fifteen years by serving on the <br />Orange County Advisory Board on Aging, the Triangle J Aging Advisory Council, <br />the County Master Aging Plan Task Force and the Friends of the Central Orange <br />Senior Center; and <br />WHEREAS, leaders and members of the Orange County community recognize <br />and believe that Mariah Ann McPherson is deserving of this honor through her <br />proven commitment and dedication to the growing older population;. and <br />NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved that the Orange County Board of <br />Commissioners does hereby acknowledge the years of hard work and dedication <br />to the community by Mariah Ann McPherson and hereby names the new Central <br />Orange Senior Center in Hjllsborough the "Mariah Ann McPherson Senior <br />Center". <br />This the 6th day of March 2008. <br />Barry Jacobs, Chair <br />Orange County Board of Commissioners <br />
