Mrs. Hayman explained the ESC office is presently located in the <br />basement of the Chapel Hill Post Office Building and will need to relocate -- <br />because that building is being remodeled. <br />Mr. Rhett Chamberlain, Manager of Durham Employment Security Commission, <br />was present to answer questions. <br />Commissioner Barnes suggested the Chairman write a letter to <br />Mr. ~: B. Archer, Chairman of the Employment Security Commission, <br />P. 0. Box 27625, Raleigh, NC 27611, asking why there are no federally <br />funded Employment Security Offices in Orange County and asking for same <br />explanation or projection about -vhat might be done to correct this <br />situation. <br />Commissioner Barnes moved, seconded by Commissioner Gustaveson, <br />to .authorize the Manager to work with the Employment Security Commission <br />to provide office space as economically as possible for the Commission --- <br />and that the decision of whore this can be done be left to. the discretion <br />of the County Manager. Uote: ayes, 5; noes, 0. <br />Agenda Item 6: Re ort from CETA Director Re PSE Positions <br />The CETA Director explained to the Board he had received a memorandum <br />from the State Division of Community Employment imposing a temporary freeze <br />on public service employment positions. He also stated that as of April 1, <br />1973, no person could hold a CETA position longer than 18 months, which means <br />5 persons purrently working for the County will have to terminate employment 9/30. <br />The Board requested the CETA Director contact appropriate persons at <br />the State Office of Community Employment for futher information. <br />The Board also requested the CETA Director report his findings from the <br />Mate Office of Community Employmen±, the number of vacancies that will <br />be created within the County, and the plans of those agencies who will <br />be loosing employees to the Board of Commissioners at the meeting <br />of September 24th. <br />_,_ <br />
