_. ~° <br />MINUTES <br />ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />SEPTEMBER 5, 1979 <br />The Orange County Board of Commissioners and the Chapel Hill <br />Town Council met in special session on Wednesday, September 5,.1979, <br />at 7:30 p.m., in the Commissioners Room of the Orange County Courthouse, <br />in Hillsborough, North Carolina. <br />Commissioners present: Commissioner Richard Whitted, Chairman, <br />and Cammissioners Norman Walker, Norman Gustaveson and Don WiTlhoit. <br />Commissioner Anne Barnes was absent. <br />Chapel Hill Town Council Members present: Mr. R. D. Smith, <br />Mr. Gerald Cohen, Mr. Bill Thorpe, Mr. Jonathan Howes and Ms. <br />Marilyn Boulton: <br />Agenda Item I:. Discussion of An Issue Pa er Concernin <br />Joint P annin Areas <br />The Orange County Planning Director discussed briefly his <br />Issue Paper Concerning Joint Planning Areas. A general discussion <br />of joint planning followed. <br />It was the consensus of the Board of Commissioners and the Council <br />to reactivate a subcommittee that would meet periodically and make <br />recommendations to the Council and to the Board of Commissioners for <br />action. <br />Council Member Boulton moved, seconded by Council Member Howes, <br />to appoint a subcommittee of the original members of the ad hoc <br />committee, consisting of Jonathan Howes and Beverly Kawelec, and <br />two members of the Chapel 4i11 Planning Board, who will be selected <br />with the advice of the Chairman of the Chapel Hill Planning Board, <br />to meet as soon as possible and prior to the joint meeting of the <br />Chapel Mill Town Council and Drange County Board of Commissioners in <br />6D days. Vote: Unanimous <br />Commissioner Willhoit moved, secanded by Commissioner Gustaveson, <br />to appoint a subcommittee of Commissioner Anne Barnes and Commissioner <br />Norman Gustaveson and two.Planning Board members from Chapel Hill Township <br />to be selected after consulting with the Chairman of the Orange County <br />Planning Board. Vote: ayes, 4; noes, 0. <br />
