ORANGE COUNTS BOARD OF COMI~~IISSIONER5 <br />RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING <br />BOB NUTTER <br />WHEREAS, Robert "Bob".Nutter is a fifth generation farmer; and, <br />WHEREAS, the Nutters moved from Maine to North Carolina in 1963 to start a farm in <br />Orange County; and, <br />WHEREAS, Maple View Milk Company, started by the Nutters in 1996, was one of <br />the first contemporary farm-to-consumer milk bottling businesses in North <br />Carolina; and, <br />WHEREAS, Maple View Ice Cream is the pride of North Carolina and has received <br />national recognition; and, <br />WHEREAS, the Nutter family, led by Bob Nutter, has served an important role in <br />environmental preservation as a pioneer for land conservation; and, <br />WHEREAS, the Nutter family has provided strong support for public education <br />including the "Dictionary Program" which has provided dictionaries to third- <br />graders in the Orange County Schools since 2004; and, <br />WHEREAS, Bob Nutter has been honored by the Orange-Durham Cattlemen's <br />Association with its Lifetime Achievement Award for his work in the North <br />Carolina cattle industry; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved that, the Orange County Board of Commissioners <br />recognizes Bob Nutter for his outstanding service to the people of Orange <br />County, innovation in farming techniques, and commitment to the <br />agricultural community here and across the State of North Carolina. <br />This the 5~' day of February 2008. <br />Barry Jacobs, <br />Orange County Board of Commissioners <br />~/ ~~S' ' G2p~1 d'-' a a~^ <br />2 -,S ~LooB' <br />~~ <br />
