E <br />I <br />4 <br />i <br />1 <br />i <br />1 <br />SBS <br />MINUTES <br />ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />JULY 3, 1979 <br />The Orange County Board of Commissioners met in special session with <br />the Chapel Hi-11 Town Council on Tuesday, July 3, 1979, at 4:00 p.m., in. the <br />Board Raam of the Municipal Building in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. <br />Commissioners present: Commissioner Richard Whitted, Chairman, and <br />Commissioners Norman Gustaveson, Anne Barnes and Don Willhoit. Commissioner <br />Norman Walker was absent. <br />Chapel Hill Town Council members present: Mayor James Wallace and <br />Council members R. D. Smith, W. Thorpe, B. Kawalec, G. Cohen, J. Howes and <br />M.- Boulton. <br />Agenda Item 4: Landfill Fees <br />It was the consensus of the Board of Commissioners and the Chapel Hill <br />Town Council, to request the Town Manager and County Manager prepare proposals <br />concerning the landfill and that the Board of Commissioners and Town Council <br />would then set a time to meet and discuss this issue. <br />Agenda Item 3: Resolution Concerning Extraterritorial <br />Planning Jurisdiction ~~ "` <br />The Chapel Hill Town Council unanimously rejected the County Commissioner's <br />Resolution of October 23, 1978 "Approving a Request Made by the Town of <br />Chapel Hill to Orange County for an Extension of Extraterritorial Planning <br />Jurisdiction". <br />Commissioner Willhoit moved, seconded by Commissioner Gustavesan, <br />to approve a Resolution Requesting and Approving an Extension of Extra- <br />territorial Planning Jurisdiction. <br />Vote: ayes, 4; noes, 0. <br />For copy of this resolution, see page 586 of this book. <br />The Chapel Hi11 Town Council unanimously accepted this resolution. <br />Thereafter, the County Planning Director reviewed an issue paper <br />concerning joint planning areas. <br />The Board and Town Council set the next joint meeting to 6e held - <br />on Wednesday, September 5th, at 7:30 p.m., in the Orange County Courthouse, <br />in Hillsborough.
