"Resolved that the Orange County Board of Education supports a county wi.d~ bond issue Eor capital improvement for Orange County Schools, Chapel Hill/Carrboro Schools, and Orange County in the amounts set forth on the attached Capital Improvement Program Summary; provide:i however that i£ the Board of Commissioners Calls for a bond referenc:~m Eor school and county capital improvements in a prin~:i,~l amounC less than that set forth on the attached Capital Impr;~vement Program Summary that the proppttionate share of said new pri::cipal amount designated for the Orange Country Schools shall nut h~:~ less than the portion of the Capital Improve- ment Program Summary now designated for the Orange County Schools." Hanes Orange County bo;~rd of Education On motion by Mr. Strickland, seconded by Mrs. Hill, the following resolution was passed by a vote of 3-2 at a special meeting of the Chapel Hill-Carrboro Board of Education held on Monday evening, June 18, 1979: The Chapel Nill-Carrboro Board of Education requests the Drange County Commissioners to authorize a bond referendum for capital improvements to provide necessary funds to meet the capital needs of the Chapel Hill-Carrboro school district, the Or,~nge County school district, and the Orange County government, with the stipulation that the amount allocated to the two school districts be equal and that the amount allocated to the Chapel Hill-Carrboro schools be at least 57,000,000. Voting in favor of the resolution were Mr. Strickland, Mrs. Hill, and Mr. Caldwell, Voting against the resolution were Mr, Riddle and Mrs. Insko. Absent were Mrs. Sockwell and Mr. Parrish.
