.~~ <br />Mr. Ken Moore, North Carolian Botanical Garden, requested funding <br />from the Board of Commissioners to continue the garden at its current <br />level. For copy of his request, see page 539 of this book. <br />Mr. Lloyd Osterman spoke in support of the library budget and <br />in support of salary increases for library personnel. <br />Ms. Katherine Seelye spoke in support of increases proposed in <br />the library budget and in support of salary increases for staff members. <br />Ms. Arthrell Sanders, Commission for Women, spoke in support of <br />funding requested by the Coalition for Battered Women, Womens Wealth <br />Counseling Service and Chapel Hill Rape Crisis Center which would <br />enable the services provided by these agencies to continue. <br />Ms. Jackie Shelton, Commission for Women, spoke in support <br />of funding requested by Coalition for Battered Women, Womens Health <br />Counseling Service and Chapel Hill Rape Crisis Center. <br />Ms. Jennifer Wingard spoke in support of Chapel Hill Rape Crisis <br />Center, Coalition far Battered Women and Womens Health Counseling Service. <br />Mr. Wilson McKerrow, Chairman of Council on Aging, spoke in <br />support of a South Orange Senior Citizens Center. <br />No other person spoke to the county's proposed 1979-80 budget. <br />The Chairman called the public hearing adjourned at 9:30 p.m. <br />T'•a Board outlined the following items for discussion at the next <br />budget session: EMS, Sheriff - additional personnel and retirement, <br />Jail, Public Works, Water and Sewer, Capital Projects, Administration - <br />5edimentation and Erosion, Human Services - Council on Aging, JOCCA, <br />Human Services Coordinator, Nutrition Program, Health Department, <br />Rape Crisis, Battered Women, Womens Health, Recreation - transfer of <br />funds from CIP to c::rrent and Municipal Support, Schools and Legal <br />Services. <br />There being no further business to come before the $oard, the <br />Chairman declared the meeting adjourned-. ~ <br />~' Richard E.
