. ~J~~ <br />MINUTES <br />ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />JUNE 19, 1979 <br />4 <br />ti <br />The Orange County Board of Commissioners met in regular sessio n <br />on Tuesday, June 19, 1979, at 7:30 p.m., in the Superior Caurt Room, <br />of the Orange County Courthouse, in Hillsborough, North Carolina. <br />Commissioners present: Commissioner Richard Whitted, Chairman, <br />and Commissioners Anne Barnes, Don Willhoit and Norman Gustaveson. <br />Commissioner Norman Walker was absent. <br />The meeting was a scheduled public hearing to receive public comment <br />concerning the county's proposed budget for fiscal year 1979-$O. <br />The Finance pirector submitted and reviewed certain "Budget <br />Highlights" for 1979-$D. For copy of this document, see page of <br />this book. <br />Thereafter, Ms. Gloria Williams, Assistant Director of JOCCA, spoke <br />on behalf of JOCCA's budget requests and endorsed a senior citizens <br />center in Orange County. <br />Mr. Joe Hackney, Chairman of Orange County JOCCA Board; Mr. Keith <br />Aldridge, member of JOCCA Board; and a Ms. Martin spoke in favor of <br />JOCCA's budget requests. <br />Mr. Lance James, Co-President of PTA, spoke in fav;.:^ of Chapel Hill- <br />Carrboro School's budgetary requests over and above the 7 ~ level. <br />Ms. Carol Gehlbach, President of Chapel Hi11 League of Women Voters, <br />expressed support of the budget submitted by the Chapel Hill-Garrbora <br />School Board. For copy of Ms. Gehlbach's comments, see page 530 of this <br />book. <br />Mr. Lamar Ekbladh spoke in favor of the Chapel Hill-Carrboro School's <br />budget requests. <br />Mrs. Pricilla Otto, parent, spoke in favor of the full budget proposed <br />by the Chapel Hill-Carrboro School Board. She also spoke in favor of <br />retaining bus monitors. <br />Mr. Tom Reef, parent, spoke in favor of the full proposed budget <br />of Chapel Hill-Carrboro Schools. He also spoke in favor of retaining <br />bus monitors. <br />
