i <br />~'~ <br />.. ~r ~_ <br />MINUTES <br />ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />JUNE 7, 1979 <br /> <br />The Orange County Board of Commissioners met in special session on <br />Thursday, June 7, 1979, 7:30 p.m., in the Commissioners Roam, Orange <br />County Courthouse, in Hillsborough, North Carolina. <br />Commissioners present: Commissioner Richard Whitted, Chairman, <br />and Commissioners An.:~ Barnes, Norman Walker and Don Willhoit. <br />Commissioner Gustaveson was absent. <br />Agenda Item 4: Fireworks Dis la <br />Dr. Martha 5. Wingfield was present to request the Board grant a <br />permit for a fireworks display aver Eastwood Lake on June 15th. She <br />assured the Board that the public was invited and that the display would <br />6e supervised by volunteer members of the Chapel Hill Fire Department. <br />Commissioner Walker moved, seconded by Commissioner Willhoit, <br />that the Board grant Dr. Wingfield's request provided the display would <br />be under the supervision of the Chapel Hill Fire Department. Vote: <br />ayes, 4; noes, O. <br />Agenda Item 1: Fees for Famil Plannin Services <br />The Health Director addressed the Board concerning HEW's requirement <br />for health departments to collect fees for family planning Services <br />effective July 1, 1979. Dr. William Mayes, Chairman, Board of Health, <br />and Ms. Evelyn Lloyd, Health Board member, were present in the audience. <br />Commissioner Willhoit moved, seconded by Commissioner Barnes, <br />the Board approve, in principle, the Health Director's recommendation to <br />adopt federally mandated fee schedule system for family planning with <br />actual figures being submitted to the Board of Commissioners when <br />available. Vote: ayes, 4; noes, 0. <br />Agenda Item 2: Budget Ordinance Amendments <br />Commissioner Willhoit moved, seconded by Commissioner Barnes, to <br />approve the budget ordinance amendments for the Health Department as <br />submitted by the Finance Officer.
