~3 s 9 ~F Agenda Item 22: Budget Review by Orange County School Board Orange County School Board members present: Mr. James Ray Freeland, Mr. John Thomas Walker, Mr. Ken Collins and Mr, Norman Haithcock. Staff members present: Dr. Mike Simmons, Superintendent, Mr. Dan Lunsford, Mr. Tom Rickman and Mr. Frank Peele. Dr. Simmons, Mr. Rickman and Mr. Lunsford discussed the 7X "A" budget and supplemental "B, 1", "B, 2", and "B, 3" budgets with the Board of Commissioners. The Chairman recessed the meeting for lunch break until 3:00 p.m. Agenda Item 16: Times to Consider Proposed 1979-80.Bud~ The Board set June 7, at 7:30 p.m., Commissioners meeting room, in Hillsborough to review the county's budget. The Board set June 12, 7:00 p.m. to hold a Board of Equalization and Review Meeting in the Commissioners meeting room, in Hillsborough. The Board set 7:30 p.m., June 12th to review Capital Improvements Budgets with Orange County and chapel Hill-Carrboro School Boards, in the Commissioners meeting room, Hillsborough. The Board set June 14th, 7:30 p.m., to review human services budgets, in the Commissioners meeting roam, Hillsborough. June 19th is the date set for the public hearing on the entire budget at 7:30 p.m., in the Superior Courtroom in Hillsborough. Commissioner Willhoit moved, seconded by Commissioner Bar^es, to hold a budget work session on June 20, 7:30 p.m., in Carrboro. Vote: ayes, 4; noes, 0. The Board requested a letter be sent to Carrboro explaining this is a work session, not a public hearing, and that the public would be invited to listen but not to comment and that the public hearing on the budget is being held June 19th in Hillsborough, at which time all persons are welcome to comment on the proposed 1979-80 budget. The Board proposed to adopt the budget on June 25th, at a meeting beginning at 7:30 p.m., in the Commissioners meeting room, in Hillsborough. The Board set aside Friday, June 29th, 6:00 p.m. for an emergency budget meeting -if necessary.
