~~ <br />a <br />Ap <br />C ~ <br />Commissioner Walker moved, seconded by Commissioner Barnes, the Board <br />:~ adopt the recommendation made by the Department of Transportation for the <br />'~ secondary road program for the fiscal year 1979-$0. <br />Commissioner Whitted requested the motion be amended to include a <br />f <br />request to the Board of Transportation to look to different sources of <br />funding for strengthening and paving roads so that funds used for strength- <br />ening roads would not depleie funds available for paving roads. <br />Commissioners Walker and Barnes accepted this amendment. Vote: <br />ayes, 5; noes, 0. <br />Commissioner Barnes requested Mr. Watkins re-check the traffic count <br />on SR X1721. <br />Commissioner Whitted thanked the Department of Transportation for <br />paving the pothole at the 751 bridge and requested the Department check <br />the maintenance of a dirt road off Highway n57. <br />Agenda Item 5: Report on County Garage <br />District Attorney Wade Barber was present to discuss with the Board the <br />recent SBI investigation concerning the county garage. <br />Commissioner Gustaveson moved, seconded by Commissioner Barnes, the <br />Board move into executive session to discuss county personnel involved in the <br />investigation. Vote: ayes, 5; noes, 0. <br />The Chairman called the meeting back to public session and moved <br />the following, seconded by Commissioner Willhoit: <br />The Board of Commi~cioners has reviewed the details of the garage <br />investigation, the current status of the garage, and the court's findings <br />~•egarding the County Manager and has reached some conclusions: <br />1) Because management of the garage has been shown to be less efficient <br />~ than desirable, the facility is now under new management systems to correct <br />the deficiencies and to insure an orderly operation. <br />I <br />2) This Board has not and does not condone the use of the county garage <br />-for repair of personal vehicles and has asked the County Attorney to bring <br />this and other appropriate statutes to the attention of all county <br />employees, and that all such statutes be adhered to. <br />3) This Board, having reviewed all the facts, continues to have confidence it <br />I <br />the integrity and leadership and administrative ability of the County Manager. <br />The Board now considers this matter closed.
