. _.: <br />~a.~~J <br />i <br />e <br />E <br />MINUTES <br />ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />MAY 15, 1979 <br />The Orange County Board of Commissioners met in special session <br />on Tuesday, May 15, 1979, at 12:00 noon, at the Colonial Inn, in Hillsborough, <br />North Carolina. <br />Commissioners present: Commissioner Richard Whitted, Chairman, <br />and Commissioners Norman Gustaveson, Don Willhoit, Anne Barnes and <br />Norman Walker. <br />Hillsborough Commissioners present: Mayor Paul Williams and <br />Commissioners Horace Johnson, Tom Denton, Remus Smith, Paul Martin and <br />Allen Lloyd. Also present: Mr. Clarence Rosamond, Water & Sewer Superintendent. <br />The purpose of the meeting was: <br />1) To discuss the need to formulate a policy on extension of <br />water and sewer services. <br />2) To discuss status of zoning plans for the extraterritorial <br />zoning area around Hillsborough. <br />3) 7o discuss the possibilities of including Hillsborough in <br />the county's soil and erosion control ordinance. <br />It was the consensus of both boards to set up a task force consisting <br />o` three persons from each unit to draft a policy on sewer and water <br />extension which both boards could consider. <br />Mr. Tom Demon said public hearings had been scheduled on zoning <br />plans for the extraterritorial area around Hillsborough and the Town <br />hoped to implement zoning in June. <br />Commissioner Willhoit requested the County Commissioners be provided <br />with copies of the proposed zoning ordinance and map of the proposed <br />extension area and that the county Planning Director brief the <br />Gounty Commissioners on this item. <br />Commissioner Whitted requested the County Commissioners send the <br />Hillsborough Board a copy of the county's erasion control ordinance <br />with a formal request to the Town to consider adopting the ordinance. <br />Mr. Tom Denton raised a question about the county's facilities <br />study. Commissioner Whitted said public meetings would be scheduled <br />before the facilities plan would he authorized. <br />
