Ideally, we'd prefer the information in an
ESRI-compatible
format... but we'll take whatever you have at-hand. .
A #1: THE DIGITAL FILES HAVE BEEN POSTED ON THE COUNTY WEBSITE
HTTP:/NVVWV.CO.ORANGE.NC.US/PURCHASING/ UNDER CURRENT BIDS
Q #2: I was looking at the recently released RFP for the Development of a Future Vision of Reliable
Broadband Coverage
(#5157) and was wondering if you could answer a few questions about this RFP. Can you tell me if this
solicitation is seeking
more assessment/planning services? Will there be a need to solicit for network providers to assist with the
implementation of
broadband services?
A #2: ANY PLANNING EFFORTS WOULD BE TO LOCATE SITES AND IDENTIFYING NEEDED
TECHNOLOGIES TO
DEVELOP A ROBUST TELECOMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM THROUGHOUT THE UNDER- AND UN-
SERVED
PORTIONS OF RURAL ORANGE COUNTY. YES, COLLOCATORS WILL NEED TO BE PART OF THE
NETWORK,
WHETHER A DAS OR TRADITIONAL TOWER NETWORK IS EMPLOYED.
Q #3: When a company is picked (via your RFP process) how is all the preliminary work for the engineering,
designing,
developing business plan and model going to be compensated? Would compensation only come if the grant
was accepted and
funded by NTIA or RUS?
A #3: ANY AND ALL COMPENSATIONS AN ORANGE COUNTY PARTNER WOULD RECEIVE FOR ANY
PRELIMINARY WORK FOR ENGINEERING, DESIGN, OR DEVELOPING A BUSINESS PLAN WILL COME
FROM THE
GRANT. NO GRANT -- NO COMPENSATION.
Q #4: Is it an outright requirement that any RFP respondent act as a co-applicant (with the County) for BIP
and BTOP
funding?...or would the County be willing to review an RFP response indicating otherwise?
A #4: ORANGE COUNTY RESERVES THE RIGHT TO CONSIDER ALTERNATE PROPOSALS,
HOWEVER THE
ALTERNATE RESPONSE MUST BE CLEARLY MARKED "ALTERNATE"
