_~ ~'_ <br />~ ~~ ) <br />__ ~ <br />:x <br />Agenda Item 15: Animal Shelter <br />The County Manager submitted a letter received from Mrs. Friedrich <br />Solmsen, President of the Orange County Animal Protection Society, <br />setting forth the fee structure for the initial operation of the Animal <br />Shelter. For copy of this letter, see page 408 of this book. <br />Commissioner Barnes moved, seconded by Commissioner Gustaveson, <br />the Board approve the fee schedule Mrs. Solmsen submitted with the <br />exception of a $15.00 charge under the category of ordinance violation - <br />fine, which is to be changed to actual amount of fine as provided by <br />ordinance. Vote: ayes, Commissioners Walker, Gustaveson, Willhoit <br />and Barnes; noes, Commissioner Whitted. <br />The County Attorney said he would have an ordinance prepared by <br />the next Commissioners meeting. <br />Agenda Item 16: Contract with APS for Animal Shelter <br />Commissioner Gustaveson moved, seconded by Commissioner Barnes, the <br />Chairman be authorized to sign a contract with the Animal Protection <br />Society for the operation of a County Animal Shelter upon adoption of <br />the ordinance. Vote: ayes, Commissioners Gustaveson, Barnes, Willhoit <br />and Walker; noes, Commissioner Whitted. <br />Agenda Item 17: Maple Court Subdivision <br />.The Planning Director reviewed the preliminary plat of Maple Court <br />Subdivision for the Board. <br />Commissioner Walker moved, seconded by C„,~missioner Gustaveson, to <br />approve the preliminary plat of Maple Court Subdivision with the following <br />recommendations from the Planning Board: 1) A site distance easement be <br />shown at the intersection of proposed road and Maple Street. 2) Proposed <br />street name, Maple Court, be changed since il` could be confused with <br />existing Maple Street. Vote: ayes, 5; noes, 0. <br />Agenda Item 18: Minimum Lot Size in University Lake Watershed <br />The Planning Director submitted the Planning Board's recommendation <br />on five acre zoning in University Lake Watershed. For copy of this <br />recommendation, see page 409 of this book. <br />Commissioner Willhoit requested a public hearing be conducted to <br />receive a full range of input on five acre lot size as an interim measure <br />to provide protection of University Lake Watershed. Ne suggested inviting <br />persons with some expertise, such as Durham-Orange Medical Society members. <br />
