TRC concluded
that, in their opinion, the development of the Paydarfar site will not likely impact any significant
cultural resources.
3.8 Air Quality
The project site is located on an undeveloped, wooded 10 -acre lot. Air quality at the site is
considered as good to moderate as no nearby industries emit air pollutants. Air quality is affected
by the adjacent landfill, the Chapel Hill Operations Center, local traffic on Millhouse and Eubanks
Roads, and thoroughfare traffic on highway I -40. Most of the surrounding lands are woodland
with low density development. Compared to more distant potential sites, location of the transfer
station at the Paydarfar tract would result in less fuel used by the collection trucks and
correspondingly reduced emissions of greenhouse gases.
3.9 Noise Levels
The area of the proposed project site is subject to a number of noise sources, predominantly from
traffic on the local roads and highway I -40. Activities at the landfill and the Chapel Hill
Operations Center also contribute to noise levels. Some commercial activities are also located
around the intersection of Eubanks and Millhouse Roads.
Environmental Assessment — Paydarfar Site
11 September 30, 2009
