It is recommended that any well be installed in tIhe northern one third of the <br />parcel in ender to -comply with this 500 -foot distance requirement The applicant may <br />also want to determine whether there is any risk of putnpitig groundwater potentially <br />impacted by the nearby landfill whits, even at locations greater than 500 feet from the <br />waste. <br />Both the University of NC Airport Road! Old Sani juy Landfill Site (NCD 980 <br />557 615) and the University of NC/Airport Waste Disposal Area Site (NCD 980 557 623) <br />have been removed from the CERCLIS List. The former is on the NC inactive <br />Hazardous Sites Branch (1HSB) Priority List. The latter is undergoing remedi4on under <br />the 1NSB Registered Environmental Consultant Program. (Both of these sites arc located <br />about 2.5 miles southeast of the project. The UNC— Chapel Hill -Estes Drive Site (NCD <br />982 093 783), located about 2.8 miles southeast of the project is undergoing remediation - <br />under the supervision of the NC'Hazardous Waste Seetionl(sitc has been deferred from <br />CERCLA). No action he's beed taken by the IHSB with regards to this site and the <br />Orange County Regional Landfill Site. <br />After reviewing the file information, i believe it is Likely that the project will <br />affect the above four sites, with caveats on the Orange County Regional Landfill Site, as <br />stated above.
