'~~ 30 .. <br />Ambulance Provider means an individual, firm, corporation <br />or association. who engages or professes to engage in the <br />business or service of transporting Patients or providing <br />other EMS Services. <br />Approved means approved by the North Carolina Medical Care <br />Commission pursuant to the latter's rules~and regulations <br />promulgated under the authority of Law. ~ ' <br />Convalescent Ambulance means an Ambulance used on a <br />scheduled basis solely to transport Patients having a known <br />non-emergency medical condition. Convalescent Ambulances <br />shall not be used in place~of any other category of <br />Ambulance as defined herein. <br />County means the Grantor, Orange County, and its Board of <br />Commissioners or its designated representative. <br />Emergency means something dangerous or serious which <br />happens suddenly or unexpectedly and involves a Victim or <br />other Patient who is or may be in need of immediate EMS <br />Services or medical treatment in order to prevent loss of <br />life or further aggravation or physiological or <br />psychological illness or injury. ~ ~~ <br />Smergeacy Medical Technician (EMT) means an individual who <br />has completed a training program in emergency medical care <br />at least equal to the National Standard Training Program <br />for Emergency Medical Technicians as defined by the United <br />States Department of Transportation and has been certified <br />as an emergency medical technician by the North Carolina <br />Office of Emergency Medical Service. <br />EMS Franchise Ordinance means "An [Orange County] Ordinance <br />Regulating Emergency Medical, First Responder, and Rescue <br />Service and Granting of Franchises and Contracts to the ' <br />Operators in the County of Orange." <br />BM<S Noatraasportiag Service means providing EMS Services <br />using EMS Non-Transporting Vehicle. <br />EMS Noatraasporting Vehicle means a motor vehicle dedicated <br />and equipped to provide'First Responder or Rescue Services <br />or to move medical equipment and EMS personnel functioning <br />within the scope of practice of~EMT-P to the scene of a <br />request for assistance.
