University.- ?r1e have. a multitude of relationships with the University; e.g., student experiences, internships, training, consultation, etc. Public Schools - We are jointly planning and carrying out health educational curriculum and classes and spacial classes for teens who have given birth and are keeping their babies. Group Homes - We provided technical assistance in planning proY grams on contraception in sheltered workshops.. Private Counseling - There are several such groups to whom we can refer. The predominate request by patients fbr referral is fQr ~ - abortion counseling. The largest number of such referrals is to -'` the Woman's Pavilion. Conversely, counseling for adoptions i.s by - - -- - a public agency - - see listing 1~4 following. - _ ..__..._.._ ...._~.... - Medical School - They provide our physician back-up and are a source of needed advice. - Hospital - N. C. Memorial Hospital provides our acute emergency back up. We send patients to them for further medical evaluation. We can refer patients with two abnormal paps to them for free treat- went at the dysplasia clinic. - Other Primary Care Centers - Mutual referrals. Mental Health - ode have consulted with them and taught them regards family life education. Ministerial Associations - They are backing us in the teen involve- ment effort and trying to help us. •• Department of Social Services - Provides our certification, takes our social work referrals, income problems referrals and adoption referrals.. Radio/TV/Newspaper - They have continually assisted the program with publicity and favorable attitudes being ca~nunicated to the public. Examples are: The News of Orange has published •.a lengthy article by our Director on Teen Pregnancy and several news .articles on teen pregnancy meetings and our clinic schedule; the Chapel Hi11 Newspaper publishes our clinic schedule, has carried several articles on family planning and articles focused on teens and covers the corrrnunity meetings on teen health. The radio station WCHL in Chapel Hill has had many spot ~n ouncements and broadcast a 30 minute pro- gram of an interview with the Director and Health Educator on Teen health. WPTF-TV interviewed our staff and others and broadcast a special program on teen pregnancy.. Recreation Departments - tJe are working with several of their teen programs. Joint Orange Chatham Community Action - They have a standing offer to transport patients for us. Nutrition Programs •.- The Nutrition program at the University of North Carolina provides us with nutrition students to work with patients. A variety of other relationships exist. Our County is rich in talented, superbly educated persons whom we can work with. III. Program Plan A. Famil . Planni = General To expand, for the third consecutive year, the number of active patients served by l5% and increase the aantinuatfon rate from 73~ to 77%.
