r <br />6 <br />incorporated into the regular F.P. clinic, classes were rescheduled. <br />Presently in Hillsborough, patient education classes occur once a week <br />on clinic day fram 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. - S:DO p.m. <br />In Chapel Hill, classes occur once a week on clinic day from 9:30 a.m. <br />to 10:3D a.m. and 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Although classes are mandated <br />for new patients, other interested persons have been encouraged and <br />5.nvited to attend. During FX '79 - '80 the department is committed to <br />"'- continue providing such classes. Internal' Qualit Assurai7ce' ' <br />At the end of each clinic day, the F.P. lead nurse, Anna White, re- <br />_ views the charts to assure that all procedures which were performed are <br />-`~ recorded pro~Yerly. She also notes which patients need home visits or __ <br />= - return visits to the clinic. The F:P. clerks at-each clini.a also reviews. <br />the charts while processing the third party charges. The nursing super- <br />.visor and management support supervisor, exercise quality.eontrol measures <br />during and after each clinic. In FY '79, our F.P. Physician and nursing <br />supervisor pulled records for spot checks. During FY '$0, we shall for- <br />malize aquality assurance checking procedure which shall be accomplished <br />by a team consisting of our F.P. Physician, F.P. Lead Nurse, and the <br />departmental Nursing Supervisor and Management Support Supervisor. The <br />team goal will be to randomly pull and check 5~ of the patient records <br />per quarter. <br />F. Infertilit Services <br />atients who are having difficulty conceiving are counseled about the <br />normal physiology of ovulation and fertilization. The procedures involved <br />in a infertility work-up are explained and the patients are referred to <br />the physician of their choice for further care. <br />We are fortunate to'have a leading infertility clinic at Memorial <br />Hospital in Chapel Hill headed by Dr. Jaroslaw Hulks who is an established <br />authority in this subject.- <br />G. .Commuritiy relationships/agency linkages-• <br />1. P~ricultural ESctension Service - We have given presentations to <br />extension groups and they are helping tai us into teen groups. <br />2. Orange County Women's Commission --tde are co-sponsoring a series <br />' of community lectures and discussions on teen pregnancy and teen <br />health. These are well attended meetings with 'name' speakers <br />that are attracting considerable public attention. <br />3. Cancer Society - We are jointly planning asolo-reptal screening <br />project with financial assistance from them. We obtain our anti- <br />' smoking material from them. <br />4. Civic clubs - We are often called on to speak to such, groups. <br />
