Cultural Resources (CR) 27 <br /> Objective CRA: <br /> Provide for the systematic identification of historic buildings, objects, districts, sites, <br /> structures and archaeological sites. Update and improve these inventories at <br /> regular intervals. <br /> Status/Action: Ongoing <br /> The HPC is always updating the inventory, informally, as part of the annual Certified <br /> Local Government Report. Members are also updated when a building is <br /> demolished through the Quick Response Team (QRT) program. <br /> Objective CR-2: <br /> Establish stronger partnerships with preservation organizations for the dissemination <br /> of information on current topics and to provide hands-on training, such as "how to" <br /> publications, examples of design guidelines, technical briefs, etc. (See also Economic <br /> Development Objective ED-4.1.) <br /> Status/Action: Ongoing <br /> As part of this year's Preservation Month (May) activities, the HPC sponsored the <br /> first joint meeting with all of the major historic and cultural resource preservation <br /> organizations in the County, including discussion of joint opportunities. . <br /> Objective CR-3: <br /> Work within the Orange County government system to identify and resolve existing <br /> policies which may be in conflict with the County's historic preservation mission. <br /> (See also Economic Development Objective ED-4.1, Housing Objective H-3.6 and Land Use <br /> Objective LU-4.5.) <br /> Status/Action: Ongoing <br /> ERCD staff is already working more closely with Planning and Inspections staff on <br /> permitting requirements for historic properties, such as Murphey School. <br /> Objective CR-4: <br /> Strive to make the community more aware of the activities of the Historic <br /> Preservation Commission and its place in County government. (See also Economic <br /> Development Objective ED-4.1.) <br /> Status/Action: Ongoing <br /> The HPC operated an informational-booth at the Last Fridays'Event in Hillsborough <br /> during Preservation Month. <br /> Objective CR-5: <br /> Promote existing programs that offer financial incentives for preservation purposes <br /> and pursue new programs to encourage the purchase, preservation, maintenance or <br /> adaptive reuse of historic landscapes, and historic and soon to be historic structures. <br /> (See also Economic Development Objective ED-4.1.) <br /> Status/Action: No Action <br /> Objective CR-6: <br /> Develop and strengthen educational programs to make history engaging to the <br /> public. <br /> Status/Action: No Action <br /> 25 <br />
