Objective AE-4: 25 <br /> Work towards the installation of an ozone monitor in Orange County. <br /> Status/Action: Initiated <br /> Funding provided in CIP 2009-2019 for an ozone monitor. Preliminary conversations <br /> held with NCDAQ regarding potential installation and costs. <br /> Objective AE-5: <br /> Develop an accounting and assessment of air and water pollution impacts in Orange <br /> County (both increases and decreases). (See also Transportation <br /> Objective T-1.1 and Land Use Objective LU-3.2.) <br /> Status/Action: No Action <br /> Subcommittee work on Environmental Stewardship Action Committee (ESAC) <br /> includes efforts to develop Best Workplace for Commuters status for Orange County <br /> govemment, pending Board consideration. <br /> Obiective AE-9: <br /> Promote the use of more fuel-efficient vehicles, and vehicles that use sustainable <br /> alternative fuels such as biofuel and electricity. <br /> Status/Action: Ongoing <br /> As part of County Vehicle Fuel Conservation Policy and Environmental <br /> Responsibility Goal, new vehicle purchases are default fuel-efficient and alternative- <br /> fuel, unless justification is provided for a different approach. GHG community action <br /> steps are likely to include promoting awareness of alternative fuel vehicles in the <br /> community. <br /> Obiective AE-10: <br /> Convert the County's vehicle fleet to fuel efficient and low-emissions vehicles. <br /> Status/Action: Ongoing <br /> Adopted Vehicle Fuel Conservation Policy addresses preference and default for <br /> alternative fuel vehicles, has been in place since 1212005.
