~achmPx~-~ _ 5 24 <br />Environmental Responsibility Goal -Proposed Next Steus <br />[November 2009) <br />1) Provide Status Report to BOCC. <br />• Present draft Environmental Leadership Policy for Orange County. <br />• Present update on activities toward accomplishing the goal <br />• Request feedback on matrix for evaluation of possible action <br />strategies <br />2) Adoption of Environmental Leadership Policy <br />3) Consideration of joining "Best Workplaces for Commuters" program <br />(including action steps as directed by Manager, with logistical <br />recommendations from IT and Human Resources). <br />4) Use Feedback on Action Strategy Evaluation Matrix to continue <br />assessment of potential metrics, including use to Monitor Building <br />Conservation Practices (AMPS, Planning & Inspections) <br />5) Develop Action Strategies for Climate Change /Greenhouse Gas <br />Emissions Reduction Program <br />6) Prepare County Energy Strategy, as required for energy stimulus Funds, <br />and continue to pursue grants and renewable energy and energy <br />efficiency. <br />7) Create Economic Development Master Energy Plan (Board Priority P-10) <br />8) Continue to Develop Internal Policies to make Orange County a Model <br />Government-addressing key areas: <br />• Food consumption at County sponsored events <br />• Paper usage <br />• Large-volume and/or Professional Printing <br />• Vehicle selection <br />• Buying Local <br />9) Participate in national and global information-sharing on actions and <br />potential measures to accomplish the Goal, and use new information as <br />appropriate to further progress toward the Goal. <br />
