In most cases, <br />approvals of motions are based on a majority vote of the voting membership. When <br />requested by a TAC member, weighted voting procedures are used. The <br />Burlington-Graham MPO covers Alamance County and a small portion of Orange <br />County near Mebane. See the attached map. <br />G) What are l2POs? <br />Rural Planning Organizations. (R.POs} were created by North Carolina state law in 2000 <br />to facilitate better transportation planning in rural areas. There are ZO RPOs in North <br />Carolina. RPO's governance procedures and work products are very similar to those of <br />MPO's; however, RPO's are not recognized in federal law. The Kerr-Tar RPO and the <br />Triangle Area RPO are contiguous with the DCHC MPO. Seethe attached map. <br />'n Why is the DCHC MPO considering expanding? <br />The DCHC MPO is primarily exploring expansion in order to provide more opportunities <br />for cooperative decision-making and coordinated regional transportation planning. <br />_ Commuting trends from the 2000 U.S. Census data show that travel between many areas <br />beyond the current MAB and the DCHC MPO is significant. Granville County, Person <br />County, and northeastern Chatham County are part of the Triangle urban airshed and <br />non-attainment area for ozone air pollution. As such, state and federal transportation <br />
