sl <br />Stewardship plans including G1S mapping of relevant stewardship components <br />have been completed for Blackwood Farm, New Hope Preserve, and McGowan <br />Creek Preserve for future Board review and approval. Stewardship Plans for <br />Seven Mile Creek Preserve and future Northeast Park property are underway. A <br />template of stewardship plans, components, and integration of sustainable <br />forestry completed and Triangle Land Conservancy has agreed to perform <br />targeted stewardship activities to assist Land Conservation Manager. An <br />Operational Agreement with Soil and Water Conservation District has also been <br />drafted and is currently under USDA attorney review that would provide for a role <br />for district staff in assisting with stewardship and monitoring. <br />Staff is currently working on a proposed Land Conservation Seminar /Public <br />Workshop Series that would potentially begin in January 2010 to extend the <br />concept by encouraging private landholders to develop stewardship plans and <br />provide an information kit." <br />Consistency checks will be performed to ensure properties are being consistently <br />cared for in keeping with the special site- specific needs and wildlife management <br />considerations and experiences being explored with other conservation <br />landholder organizations. <br />Farmstead building stabilization efforts have been completed at future Twin <br />Creeks (Moniese Nomp) Park and are underway at future Blackwood Farm and <br />Millhouse Road parks. <br />As part of creation of FY 2010 -2020 CIP, the Board may want to consider <br />formally designating some portion of Lands Legacy funds for "stewardship <br />endowment" and also consider wildlife management actions, including deer <br />population and safety, increase in beaver and coyote activity, and other special <br />issues to ensure habitat adequacy and public safety in the future. <br />16)Develop an accounting and assessment system of water and air <br />pollution: (a) In conjunction with ICLEI; Set emissions reduction <br />target for 2030; Conduct public education campaign and link public <br />with opportunities to improve energy efficiency and use sustainable <br />energy sources; (b) Begin multi -year implementation of Observable <br />Well Network (Goal 5, 2 votes) <br />Preliminary discussions among staff and outside experts on methods to integrate <br />• water and air resources assessment system have occurred with plans to have <br />• draft approach developed in January 2010. A public education plan for each of _ <br />the ICLEI jurisdictions that participated in the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) study has <br />been identified with a possible public survey instrument on climate change and <br />GHG study issues developed by Carrboro staff. <br />
