I currently run
CLAWS, Inc. as the Executive Director. This is an organization that I started 3 years
ago. Our mission is to rehabilitate native wildlife, rescue exotic animals for which there
are no other rescues, and educate the public about the animals with which we share our
planet.
In this capacity I do everything from daily animal care, to triage of injured or sick wildlife,
assist animal control with situations concerning wildlife, work closely with several
veterinarians on caring for many different species. I maintain all of the permits that we
possess from the state as well as two different federal agencies. I maintain all of the
records on all of the animals that come through or live here that are required by the state,
the USDA and the USDI.
I am also responsible for volunteer coordination as well as outreach programs.
I have also helped write two veterinarian books on exotic species, several articles for
Exotic DVM magazine, written an instructional paper for the USDA on keeping raccoons
in captivity and been published in several magazines about exotic animals, their care and
what a large undertaking that care is.
Volunteer Experience:
I was a volunteer at the Carnivore Preservation Trust for 10 years. Have been a wildlife
rehabilitator for 22 years now, in three different states.
