2 <br />Housing and Community Development <br />2. Orange County has received notification of the receipt of $2,000 from the United Way of <br />the Greater Triangle fora regional homeless initiative entitled "Project Homeless <br />Connect." The 3rd annual Project Homeless Connect was held on Thursday, October 8, <br />2009 at the Hargraves Community Center in Chapel Hill. This is a one-day, one-stop <br />event to serve people experiencing or at risk of experiencing homelessness in Orange <br />County. Services included health and dental screenings and care, mental health <br />program enrollment, legal services, job readiness and education resources, housing <br />applications and counseling, and more. Funds received covered the costs of rental <br />equipment for the event. This budget amendment provides for the receipt of these funds <br />for the above stated purpose. (See Attachment 1, Column 2) <br />Register of Deeds <br />3. The 2009 appropriations bill (S.L. 2009-451) of the State Approved Budget for FY 2009- <br />10 made several changes to Register of Deeds recording fees. These fee changes will <br />have no impact on County revenues, as the increased revenue will go directly to the <br />State. Refer to separate Action Agenda Item on tonight's agenda regarding receipt of H1N1 <br />Phase I and ll influenza funds. (See Attachment 1, Column 3) <br />5. The Health Department has received funds totaling $1,500 from Research Triangle <br />Institute (RTI) International for the department's participation in a research pilot study. <br />RTI International, in collaboration with the project's dental consultants, utilized the health <br />department's dental clinic, staff and clients to train dentists who will perform data <br />collection in Alaska. The dental clinic was used two, half-day sessions to perform dental <br />inspections on scheduled patients. As one of the reciprocal services to the department, <br />two project dentists provided standard clinical exams for all patients. <br />
