Attachment 1 <br />!3 <br />There will be computer stations set up during Wellness Fair and Wellness Open Houses to give <br />those who have limited access to or experience with computers an opportunity to complete the <br />HRA; and people available to help walk employees through the process. <br />Maintain Don't Gain Holiday Challenge (Eat Smart Move More NC)/New Year's <br />Resolutions <br />The Maintain Don't Gain Holiday Challenge will be held during the holiday. season. Employees <br />will be encouraged to sign up for the self-directed program online and will be awarded <br />incentives for participation. Challenge participants will have to submit proof of registration and a <br />completed log at the end of the challenge to qualify for prizes, but will not be judged based on if <br />they maintained or gained weight over the course of the program. <br />Department Head Luncheon and Wellness Committee Breakfast <br />A Department Head Luncheon will be hosted by the Wellness Committee in February: The goal <br />will be to stress the importance of having healthy employees (e.g. reduce absenteeism, <br />increased efficiency and job satisfaction, etc.) and to increase management support for the <br />adoption of a "culture of wellness" in Orange County. The Luncheon will be an opportunity to: <br />• Share more information about on-going and upcoming Wellness Programs; <br />• Re-visit current, established policy (e.g. tobacco-free zones) and emphasize the need for <br />enforcement; <br />• Introduce wellness policy initiatives (possible expansion of the tobacco-free zones to all <br />County buildings, Water pitcher policy, and a Healthy Food/Beverage and Activity <br />policy); and <br />• Have managers commit to promoting wellness among their staffs and advocate for ways <br />in which their staffs can incorporate wellness into the workday (e.g. flexible hours, longer <br />lunch breaks). <br />The Wellness Committee Breakfast will be held mid-year to thank committee members for their <br />commitment to wellness and their active participation in related activities. <br />Wellness Open Houses <br />Wellness Open Houses will be held at least three times over the next year in collaboration with <br />Cigna representatives. <br />The October Wellness Fair will be during open enrollment period and give employees an <br />opportunity to ask questions regarding their health coverage or benefits package. Maxim/CIGNA <br />will provide free flu shots, cholesterol checks and blood pressure checks. The Health <br />Department will present health education materials about healthy eating, physical activity, and <br />tobacco use cessation. The Wellness Fair will also have computer stations and people available <br />to help employees complete their Health Risk Assessments (HRAs) on site; as well as be an <br />opportunity to promote upcoming Wellness activities such as the Maintain Don't Gain Holiday <br />Challenge. <br />Another Wellness Open House is planned for January 2010 and will be a chance for employees <br />to learn more about their new benefits package and ask questions; get health information; make <br />New Years Resolution pledges, complete HRAs, etc. Another event in March will be serve as a <br />NCACC Risk Management: 215 N.
