This budget amendment provides for the receipt of these funds for the above stated <br />purposes. (See Attachment 3, Senior Citizen Health Promotion Grant Project Ordinance <br />and Attachment 1, column #1) <br />2. Parks and Recreation Department <br />The Parks and Recreation Department has received a $4,750 donation from the <br />Trailheads Organization. This organization was a co-sponsor for the 5k and 7-mile event <br />held at the Little River Regional Park on January 12, 2008. The department will use <br />these funds to offset Little River capital expenses. This budget amendment provides for <br />the receipt of these donated funds for the above stated purpose. (See Attachment 1, <br />column #2) <br />3. Commissioner Contingency <br />At its February 5, 2008, the Board of County Commissioners approved advertising costs <br />to publicize vacant Orange County Advisory Board and Commissions positions. This <br />budget amendment provides an appropriation of $2,500 for print, online, and radio <br />advertisements. With this appropriation, $4,065 remains in Commissioner Contingency <br />for FY 2007-08. (See Attachment 4, Commissioner Contingency Status Report) <br />4. Health Department <br />The Health Department has received notification of additional federal Family Planning <br />Title X funds totaling $9,772 from the State. These funds are calculated on a minimum <br />basis per county and additional funds based on performance. The department plans to <br />use these funds to purchase additional handheld computers that will be needed as the <br />new Health Information System (HIS) is deployed this coming fall. <br />This budget amendment provides for the receipt of these funds for the above purposes. <br />(See Attachment 1, column #4) <br />5. Housing and Community Development <br />At its March 18, 2008 meeting, the Board of County Commissioners approved awarding <br />2001 affordable housing bond funds in the amount of $632,300 to Community <br />Alternatives for Supportive Abodes (CASA) to purchase five (5) duplexes in Chapel Hill <br />known as Pritchard Avenue Apartments for future renovation and lease to low <br />incomeldisabled individuals. (See Attachment 5, Affordable Housing Program Capital <br />Project Ordinance) <br />At its November 5, 2007 meeting, the Board of County Commissioners approved <br />amending the Orange County Classification and Pay Plan to add the new class of <br />Homeless Programs Coordinator and authorized the FTE. This budget amendment <br />provides for the set-up of this program budget by budgeting for the receipt of funds from <br />the Town of Chapel Hill ($24,600), the Town of Carrboro ($8,400), and the Town of <br />Hillsborough ($3,000), as well as the transfer of Orange County's contribution of $24,000 <br />
