AMENDMENTS TO THE <br />ORANGE COUNTY ZONING ORDINANCE <br />(Only those sections or subsections amended are set out below) <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF ORANGE <br />COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA, hereby amends the Orange County Zoning Ordinance <br />as follows: <br />Part I That Article 6 be amended as follows: <br />6.18 Telecommunications Towers and Equipment <br />The following regulations are designed to provide for the safe and efficient <br />integration of facilities necessary for the provision of advanced wireless <br />telecommunications services through the community with the goal of <br />establishing reliable wireless service to the public, governmental agencies, <br />and first responders in a manner that provides for the public safety and <br />general welfare of its citizens. <br />6.18.1 Administrative Approval of Certain Telecommunication Facilities <br />The following telecommunication facilities may be approved <br />administratively as specified herein: <br />a) New stealth telecommunications wireless support structures up to <br />seventy five (75) feet in height that are sufficiently disguised so as <br />to minimize visual impact; any wireless support structure less than <br />seventy -five (75) feet in height; any wireless support structure less <br />than one hundred fifty (150) feet in height that is located on <br />property that is owned or leased by Orange County; and any <br />wireless support structure less than one hundred fifty (150) feet in <br />height on which the owner of such facility permits the County to <br />collocate its wireless facilities on the structure at no charge to the <br />County when the location of such facility is of benefit to the County <br />as determined in the sole discretion of the County may be approved <br />administratively by the Planning Staff provided that all of the <br />provisions contained in Article 8.8.17a are met. <br />b) Applications for Collocation may be approved administratively as <br />provided for in this Ordinance. <br />A written decision approving or denying an application for <br />administrative approval of a telecommunication facility under <br />Section 6.18.1 shall be issued no later than forty -five (45) days <br />following the submission of a complete application. <br />
