Item III <br />Results: A total of 426 families expressed interest in The Women's Center program, with 248 <br />people contacting the program administrator of the IDA Program. During the three (3) year <br />grant term a total of eight (8) families were approved to participate in the program. Of those <br />eight families, four withdrew from the program due to income reductions and the inability to <br />either secure a loan or locate a suitable house. The remaining four (4) families actually purchased <br />a home during this grant acquiring assets totaling $592,000. Of this amount, we were contacted by 248 people via telephone or email. <br />After initial screening, a total of 54 applications were mailed to prospective participants. Of the <br />amount, 25 people returned their applications and received an intake appointment. The intake <br />appointments included application review (income, program rules and procedures, budget), <br />credit (report and score) and housing counseling (rights and responsibilities). Further screening <br />and program intake resulted in 8 enrolled and 46 declined applicants. 46 applicants were <br />declined for the following reasons: <br />• Lived and/or worked outside of Orange County <br />• Lived and/or worked in Orange County less than 1 year <br />• Income levels exceeded guidelines <br />• Very poor credit/very high debt <br />• Income was unearned (e.g. from social security /disability /child support/alimony) <br />• Unable to meet minimum monthly savings requirement of $50 <br />• Ready to purchase - did not want to stay in the program for the minimum 6 month <br />requirement <br />• Did not have initial $100 deposit <br />• Never returned application <br />• Participated in initial intake, but did not return — incomplete application or withdrew <br />• Withdrew without intake <br />
