Item III <br />Financial Literacy — Enrolled participants received a minimum of 10 hours of financial literacy <br />classes. Topics included: savings and savings accounts, budgeting, credit reports and scores, <br />debt reduction, investing, money management, estate planning (wills, trusts), auto loans, <br />decision - making, using credit wisely, payday loans, retirement planning, and related financial <br />topics. Information was drawn from a variety of financial literacy curriculum. All classes were <br />taught by the Director and/or professional volunteers. These classes were open to the public. <br />Homeownership Education — Participants received 8 hours of homebuyer education classes. <br />Topics included: renting vs. buying, working with a realtor, the underwriting process, working <br />with a lender, the closing process, inspections, maintenance, an overview of the home - buying <br />process, mortgage terminology, loan options, affordable housing, fair housing, and related <br />housing topics. These classes were open to the public. <br />Housing Counseling — Individuals met with the Director to discuss affordability, address specific <br />concerns and to understand the rights and responsibilities of homeownership.
