Item IV
Park A, Orange County. Our observers noted that the roads were muddy, almost to the point of being
impassable. They felt that the park was suspicious. This is a medium -to -large sized park. It has 42
units, of which 35 are occupied. The park has 54 lots, well beyond the number (19) recorded on the
2007 Orange County Mobile Home Park Inventory.
Park B, Orange County. Our surveyors called this park:
• "an immediate health hazard,"
• "One of the most threatening /disturbing places I've ever been. Appearance is third world."
• "Is just a collection of rotting MHPs and a dumping site? It seems barely livable but there was
some activity there. One car drove in and left soon thereafter could have been a possible drug
sale /use. This is a HUGE concern for the county."
The park has five units. All five are abandoned.
Park
C, Efland. They were enthusiastic that something might be
done to address the abandoned mobile homes in their community.
Park E, Chapel Hill, NC. This is a small park. It only has 4 occupied units. The other four units are
abandoned. The trees and vegetation are overgrown. There are loose chickens.
Park F, Bingham, NC. Very run down. This place is hardly a park, and really more of a collection of four
mobile homes on a rural street. One of the homes is abandoned.
Park G, Chapel Hill, NC. This park is very run down. It has many loose dogs. Five of the parks 12 units
are abandoned, and another lot is vacant. It is not a commercial area and it is not likely to be rezoned
for a new and higher use. .
Park H, Hillsborough, North Carolina. This park is characterized by our surveyors as foul - smelling and
run down.
3
