It faces several <br />threats, but it continues to remain a popular choice for many of the County's residents. A short <br />summary of the findings shows that: <br />• Only 2.6 percent of mobile homes not estimated to be abandoned in Orange County are vacant <br />• There are 84 abandoned units within mobile home parks in Orange County. <br />• There are more abandoned units than there are vacant units. <br />• Singlewide mobile homes constitute ninety -two percent of manufactured housing in Orange <br />More than 89 p rcent of lots in Orange County are occupied. ore than 6 rcen of lots in <br />Ora ounty a occupied by residents. The categories of analysis included: <br />• Amenities (signage, playgrounds, street lights, sidewalks, common areas, underground power <br />lines). This category was the most significant. Parks could get as many as 4 points or as few as <br />one negative point. <br />• Vacancy rates for lots: <br />• Unit occupancy rate: Both of these indicators are seen as proxies for the observed preference of <br />mobile home park resident. On both, the range was from 2 to -1 points. <br />• Abandoned Score. The instrument punished parks with more than an average amount of <br />abandoned homes, on the grounds that this is a major hazard and a proxy for the general <br />maintenance efforts by the park owner. Range from 2 to -2 points. <br />• Doublewide score: On the logic that doublewides are both more spacious as well as likely to be <br />newer, the instrument rewarded parks with a higher than average amount of doublewide <br />homes. There is a park in Orange County, with doublewides for all 103 occupied units, which is <br />exceptional. Doublewide scores ranged from 2 to 0 points. <br />Atmosphere: In each of the five park access and environment scores, parks were rewarded with <br />between 1 and -1 points. The road scores were based upon the presence of asphalt and the <br />description by surveyors. <br />1 <br />
