Additions or Changes to the Agenda <br /> None <br /> PUBLIC CHARGE <br /> The Chair dispensed with the reading of the public charge. <br /> 2. Public Comments <br /> a. Matters not on the Printed Agenda <br /> Kathleen Hoffman made reference to the letter she sent via email regarding the <br /> community recommendations to keep the Bradshaw Quarry Convenience Center open. She <br /> said that there is widespread endorsement of these recommendations by more than 20 <br /> community groups. She presented a copy of the letter for the record. She said that when the <br /> community presented concerns about closing the center on August 181h, the Board of County <br /> Commissioners directed staff to review the issue of temporary to permanent closure. She <br /> spoke about how shocked she was to hear about the proposal to increase curbside recycling <br /> by the end of 2009. She said that she was struck by the staff assertion that this expansion <br /> would occur with no additional cost or budget impact in 2009. She said that no actual numbers <br /> or details were provided, but this was surprising, giving the difficulty of finding money to keep <br /> Bradshaw Quarry Convenience Center open several days a week. She said that it does not <br /> make sense to close local garbage access while extending the rural recycling. She said that <br /> the County only saves $20,000 by closing this facility.
