We have been unable to recruited or consider the
new stand alone concept drug store because of this ordinance. Therefore we y
have lost a lot of potential tax revenue for property and sales tax.
From: Shannon Berry [mailto:sberry@co_orange.nc.us]
Sent: Monday, July 27, 200910:42 AM
To: James Harris
Subject: Drive - throughs in Carrboro -
Good morning Mr. Harris.
As you may know, Orange County is looking at possibly modifying our Zoning
Ordinance to limit or more strongly regulate drive- throughs in the county.
I understand Carrboro limits drive- throughs in the central business area. What, if any; .
economic impacts has the town experienced following the drive through prohibition _.
downtown? Has the town experienced any issues with business recruitment or backlash
from the business community? Any positive economic results?
Any Information you may have on the economic impacts of the drive - through limitations
within the town would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your time and assistance with this matter.
Shannon
Shannon Collins Berry, AICP =
Special Projects Planner
Orange County Planning & Inspections
(919)245 -2589
(919)644 -3002 fax
www.co.orange.nc.us
CONCORD, MASSACHUSETTS =
• population (2000): 16,993
• approximately 20 miles west of Boston
• Median Household Income (1999):$95,897
• Median Home Value (2000): $453,400
From: Marcia Rasmussen [mrasmussen @concordma.gov]
Sent: Monday, July 27, 200912:23 PM
To: Shannon Berry
Subject: RE: Concord drive - throughs
Shannon,
