/'~c~ S - ~ ~-O 5/5'0 <br />,a~oapr~ o P~ G -,z -~0 9 <br />Sb <br />Attachment 6 <br />35 <br />ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />RESOLUTION APPROVING AN INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT <br />WHEREAS, Orange County and the Town of Hillsborough worked cooperatively <br />to prepare a Strategic Growth Plan for areas surrounding the Town <br />of Hillsborough; and <br />WHEREAS, a Strategic Growth Plan Report (dated November, 2006) was <br />produced and called for preparation of an Interlocal Agreement; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, North Carolina Session Law 1987-233 authorizes Orange County and <br />its municipalities to engage in joint planning programs and to enter <br />into annexation agreements; and <br />WHEREAS, said Session Law requires any agreement be reduced to writing and <br />ratified by resolution of the governing body of each unit that is a <br />party to the agreement; and <br />WHEREAS, a steering committee was appointed in Spring of 2008 and tasked <br />with developing an agreement to promote coordinated planning in <br />central Orange County between Orange County and the Town of <br />Hillsborough; and <br />WHEREAS, said steering committee completed its task in early 2009. <br />NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Orange County Board of Commissioners <br />that the attached document entitled "Hillsborough-Orange Interlocal Land <br />Management Agreement Central Coordinated Area" is hereby approved. <br />Adopted by Orange County: <br />This the day of ; 2009. <br />Valerie Foushee, Chair <br />Orange County Board of Commissioners <br />Donna Baker County Seal: <br />Clerk to the Orange County Board of <br />Commissioners <br />
