The STAC advised the two metropolitan planning organizations <br /> on the transit components of the 2035 Long Range Transportation Plan. <br /> The Durham-Chapel Hill-Carrboro Metropolitan Planning Organization (DCHC MPO) and <br /> Triangle Transit received commendations from the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) <br /> and the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) for their work on these regional plans which were <br /> completed in collaboration with the Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (CAMPO) <br /> and others. The federal official who announced these FHWA/FTA commendations at a DCHC <br /> MPO meeting said that it was unusual for a group to receive them since they were not <br /> awarded very often. <br /> First, DCHC MPO and Triangle Transit and others were commended "for their collaborative <br /> efforts in the STAC report and implementing transit goals in their transportation systems." <br />
