Public Comments
a. Matters not on the Printed Agenda
Robert Porreca has lived in Bingham Township for over 30 years. He spoke about
closing the Bradshaw Quarry solid waste convenience center. He said that local government
has responsibilities for citizens, which should be the priority. Among these are public safety
and public health, including solid waste management and disposal. He said that he was
surprised to hear that this convenience center was to be closed as a cost-cutting measure and
that there was no public discussion about it. He said that basic services should be the last
targeted area for cuts. He made several points:
- BQCC is the only service that our residents have for handling trash and recycling.
Private haulers don't serve the area and the County does not provide curbside
recycling to these residents.
