Ensure that potential homebu ers are notified that property is in a* Special -Flood <br />Hazard Area. <br />Sec. 4.2.36 Statutory authorization. <br />Under the authorijy outline in Section 1 , the Board of Commissioners of Orange <br />CpMgM North Carolina. does -enact the SFHA Overlay District regulations as detailed <br />Sec. 4.2.37 Findings of <br />a) The flood prone areas within the planning jurisdiction of Orange County are subject, <br />to periodic inundation, which results in loss of life,* property health and safety <br />hazards disruption of commerce and governmental -services, extraordinary public <br />pNpggdjggN of flood protection and relief and impairment of the tax base, all of <br />which adversely affect ftq -pubic health, safety <br />, and general welfare. <br />b) These flood losses are caused by the cumulative effect of obstructions in floodp_lains <br />causing increases in flood heights and velocities, and by the occupancy in flood <br />
