Housing and Community Development• <br />2 <br />2. At its September 2, 2008 meeting, the Board of County Commissioners accepted a 2008 <br />Single Family Housing Rehabilitation Program funded by the N.C. Housing Finance <br />Agency. This $400,000 award will provide housing rehabilitation services for low-income <br />homeowners living in substandard housing within Orange County. (See Attachment 3, <br />Single Family Housing Rehabilitation Program Grant Project Ordinance) <br />Parks and Recreation <br />3. The Parks and Recreation Department has received a $5,000 donation from the <br />Trailheads Organization. This organization co-sponsored an event at the Little River <br />Regional Park in January 2009. The department will use these funds to offset future <br />capital expenses associated with Little River Park. This budget amendment provides for <br />the receipt of these donated funds for the above stated purpose. (See Attachment 1, <br />column #3) • <br />The Department on Aging <br />4. The Department on Aging has received additional revenue for the following programs: <br />• Frail Elderly -donated funds totaling $1,000 for the Eldercare .Division's Frail Elderly <br />Program. These funds will assist at-risk older adults in maintaining their independent <br />living. <br />• Seniors' Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP) -funds from the NC <br />Department of Insurance totaling $4,200 to conduct patient outreach, provide <br />educational programs, and promote the Medicare Part D prescription drug program <br />and other health insurance issues. <br />• Fit Feet Clinic -additional fees totaling $4,300 from increased participation in the "Fit <br />Feet° clinic. The additional revenue will provide for contracted services and additional <br />clinic supplies. This brings the total program budget to $154,243 for FY 2008-09. <br />(See Attachment 4, Senior Citizen Health Promotion Program Grant Project <br />Ordinance) <br />• Central Orange Senior Center -donated funds totaling $50,000 from the Carol <br />Woods Retirement Community for construction of the Adult Day Care Center located <br />within the Central Orange Senior Center. (See Attachment 5, CentraUNorthern <br />Orange Senior Center Capital Project Ordinance) <br />This budget amendment provides for the receipt of these funds for the above stated <br />purposes. (See Attachment 1, column #4) <br />Social Services <br />5. The Department of Social Services has received $15,000 from the NC Department of <br />Health and Human Services for the Special Children Adoption Fund program. The <br />department will use these funds to enhance the adoption services program. These <br />funds are set aside in an Adoption Enhancement Fund, which is outside of the General <br />Fund. (See Attachment 1, column #5) <br />
