a ~ <br />4..~ ..~ <br />The County budget for Emergency Medical Services exceeds 5130,000. <br />The County Rescue Squads have filed with the County P4anac?er a list of <br />their equipment needs. The County T?anager is therefore reRUesting the ~ <br />County be allowed to certify an expenditure for emergency medical services ~: <br />in order that this equipment might be obtained free of local match. Title <br />to the equipment obtained will rest with the County. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Pinney, seconded by Commissioner <br />Gustaveson, it was moved and adopted. to authorize the issuance of a <br />letter to the State Office of Er45 attesting that Orange County has <br />spent certain sums for Emergency Medical Services. <br />Item 9: [4111 the Board authorize the klanager to submit a recruest <br />for possible human service transportation projects to the State Depart- <br />ment of Transportation? The County Manager informer? the Board'that the <br />agenda attached letter was received from David C. Robinson, Director of <br />the Public Transportaion Division of the Department of Transportation, <br />regarding the possibility of the County receiving some funds through that <br />department, for certain human services programs. He stated that there <br />may be some way to bring the efforts of the Subcommittee on Transportation <br />of the Human Services Planning Committee into contact with these monies. <br />He stated that the letter was actually a solitation to submit certain <br />types of projects. These projects will be reviewed. by the State DOT, <br />who will decide which projects seem to have merit, <br />Commissioner Gustaveson asked that inquiries be made into the possi- <br />bility of making application far Title IX monies for the County's Human <br />Services Transpartation Program, and the possibility of workinq_ with <br />Chatham County in obtaining funds. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Gustaveson, seconded by Commissioner <br />Willhoit, it was moved and adopted to attempt to get further informa- <br />tion from the Public Transportation Division anc? the Title IX Program <br />regarding the possibility of receiving grant Monies for the Transporta- <br />tion Program, <br />Item 9: The Y2anager recommends the Chairman convene an executive <br />sesstion to discuss with the County Attorney civil litigation pending. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Gustaveson, seconded by Commissioner <br />Pinney, it was moved and adopted to ga into executive session to discuss <br />civil litigation pending. <br />Executive Session ensued. <br />The Board reconvened from executive session and the Chairman read <br />to the Board a resolution which had been prepared by the County Attorney <br />in relation to the defense of the Commissioners in civil action entitled <br />Lake Forest Association, Inc., et. al. versus Real Estate Properties of <br />Chapel Hi11, Inc., et. al.
