<br />DRAFT # 1.5 <br />(b) The Arts Commission shall require that any Artwork needing extraordinary operations <br />or maintenance be reviewed by the appropriate County Department Director prior to <br />the submission of the Artwork for BOCC approval. <br />(c) At least once every five years, the Arts Commission shall be responsible for <br />conducting a maintenance survey of the Public Art in the County. This survey shall <br />include a report on the condition of each Artwork, prioritized recommendations for the <br />restoration or repair or maintenance of Artwork, and estimated costs. It shall be the <br />responsibility of the Arts Commission in collaboration with the various County <br />Departments to provide for the routine conservation and maintenance of Artwork. Such <br />routine conservation and maintenance shall be in accordance with approved plans <br />submitted by each project artist. The Arts Commission shall oversee any nonroutine <br />maintenance. <br />(d) The Arts Commission may encourage and help obtain additional grants and gifts of <br />Public Art from outside sources. <br />(e) Day-to-day management of the Public Art Program shall be provided by the Arts <br />Commission staff. <br />Section 10.0 Placement of Artwork: <br />Artwork selected and implemented pursuant to the provisions of this Percent for Art Program <br />may be placed in, on or about Eligible Construction Projects or existing public buildings or <br />parks or other outdoor public site or lands in the County. They may be attached or detached, <br />within or about such property, and may be either temporary or permanent. County ofFcials or <br />other persons responsible for the design and construction of such projects shall make <br />appropriate spaces available for the placement of Artwork. Placement of works shall be <br />followed, within a reasonable time frame, by interpretative plaques on or near the Artwork, <br />indicating artist, year created and dedicated, and description of the Artwork or the reason for <br />its sponsorship and installation, as appropriate. Plaque placement shall be determined by <br />Arts Commission staff in consultation with the artist. <br />Section 11.0 Acceptance of Artwork: <br />The County Manager shall be authorized to accept the Artwork before the final payment is <br />made to the Artist. <br />This the day of , 2009. <br />Chair, Orange County Board of Commissioners <br />Donna Baker, Clerk of the Board <br />
