within clay bank habitats, however, at least four different size ( =age) classes were
observed.
5.0 CONCLUSIONSIRECONLENDATIONS
The survey results indicate that freshwater mussel species are present within the Collins
Creek watershed; however, mussels are unlikely to occur within the property boundaries.
The species that were found approximately 3.7 miles downstream from the property
boundary in Collins Creek are all fairly common, widespread, and currently considered
stable in North Carolina. If the site is developed, standard best management practices
should be employed to lessen any impacts to the aquatic habitats within and downstream
of the property.
6.0 LITERATURE CI'T'ED
Bosc, L.
