Gordon Battle Courtroom to the Central Orange Senior Center, starting <br /> August 18, 2009 through December 2009. <br /> Commissioner Nelson said that his main concern with this is this room (the Central <br /> Orange Senior Center) which has acoustical problems. <br /> A motion was made by Commissioner Nelson, seconded by Commissioner Gordon to <br /> direct staff to find alternative location(s) for the Board of County Commissioners meetings in <br /> Hillsborough. <br /> VOTE: Ayes, 2 (Commissioner Gordon and Commissioner Nelson); Nays, 5 <br /> The motion failed. <br /> A motion was made by Commissioner Jacobs, seconded by Commissioner Gordon to <br /> ask staff to come back with a report on what has been done and what can be done to help <br /> remedy the sound situation. <br /> Commissioner Yuhasz said that he would like staff to look for alternatives if they arise. <br /> VOTE: Ayes, 6; No, 1 (Chair Foushee) <br /> Commissioner Jacobs said that he thought the County was dependent on the justice <br /> facilities to go back there and the Board needs regular updates on County construction. <br /> Commissioner Yuhasz asked about looking into the meeting room at Social Services <br /> and all agreed. <br /> A motion was made by Commissioner Hemminger, seconded by Commissioner <br /> Jacobs to approve the meeting location changes for Hillsborough from the F. Gordon Battle <br /> Courtroom in Hillsborough, North Carolina to the Central Orange Senior Center (adjoining the <br /> Sportsplex), 103 Meadowlands Drive, Hillsborough, North Carolina, starting August 18, 2009 <br /> through December 2009. <br /> VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br /> aa.Authorization to Purchase Office Furniture for New County Facilities through <br /> NC State and/or GSA Contract <br /> The Board considered authorizing the Purchasing Director to affect furniture <br /> purchases for three new facilities: Office Building, Library and Hillsborough Commons — DSS <br /> offices and authorizing the Purchasing Director to exceed the $20,000 purchase order <br /> signature limit as may be required to complete the acquisitions. <br /> Commissioner Gordon said that the recommendation does not have any of the <br /> financial impact information in it. She would like to include this financial information in the <br /> recommendation as follows: <br /> "The Manager recommends the Board authorize the Purchasing Director to effect the <br /> furniture purchases as may be needed up to the following maximum amounts for the following <br /> buildings - Office Building: $375,000; Library: $290,000; Hillsborough Commons DSS Offices: <br /> $408,000 —through State Contract and/or GSA vendors; and authorize the Purchasing <br />
